| Description: | Pair (x2) RCA Twin Power Loudspeakers Mi-6264
Speakers- MI-9446A (x2) / Horns- Mi-9458 (x2) / Crossover Network- Mi-12406a (x2)
Up for auction is a pair of RCA Twin Powers in GREAT shape. RCA started manufacturing the Twin Powers, (36"x36"x36"- renown for their perfect cube, "box within a box", 2-way horn design!) for the 1939 Worlds Fair in NYC, and continued their production until the mid '50's, these having been manufactured between 1939-1944 and originally sold for $489.00 each even back then. These are VERY rare and probably one of the last remaining fully-assembled pairs in the country, if not the world. After their production, they were installed into the walls of the main auditorium at Otterbine Collage (a very-expensive private collage) in Columbus, OH until they reached my possession after they remodeled, and I was told that they had not been in-use for many years prior to that. I have owned these for 6 years, and they've been in a temperature controlled enviornment and have not moved since I purchased them. I've fired them up, using ONLY A PROPER tube amp and only on a few occassions, (like 4 or 5), and never for a duration longer than 30 minutes. I've done this mostly to breath a little life in them, but also to make my audio-junkie buddies jealous, of coarse, - and let me tell you, they sound AMAZING! The lows are most-certainly all there, the mids are punchy but round and warm as well, and the highs are VERY crisp and defined, (word to the wise- Don't stand directly in front of the horns, as they are quite directional).
